Good morning! I’m sorry to say I did not make much progress on my two eBooks this week, nor did I because I got caught up with some other things. I did however get some answers to the interview I posted for the post I’m planning to write for my Work at Home Tips Online website, so I’ll probably publish that this week.
Beyond that, after reading Nicola Sunni’s goals update on her blog Achieve Your Best Life, I’ve started looking at some of the goals I’ve accomplished this year, and what I want to achieve in the 3 1/2 months or so that are left in the year. I don’t remember if I did a goals post or not earlier this year or last year, and I actually couldn’t find one when I just looked a little while ago, but my one writing-related goal was to get my second eBook, Get Paid to Talk, published and start getting some sales from it, and I did that earlier this year. Get Paid to Talk was published on 2/1/15 and so far I’ve made probably about $6 from it – not much at all. I did get a few sales on it when I lowered the price to 99 cents, but not many. And so far it hasn’t gotten any reviews. So what I’m going to do is shoot for re-launching that book as two separate books – one on independent contractor work from home jobs, and the other on employee work from home jobs – by the end of this year. My goal for this week is going to be to come up with a plan for how to do that.
I also have a few other goals I’d like to achieve in other areas of my life by the end of this year –
- Finish my Rosetta Store Latin American Spanish Course – if I can continue with my current progress, I’ll have this done by October 3. After that I want to start working more on getting some conversation practice in, hopefully with some of the Spanish-speaking interviewers at my company. My ultimate goal is to start doing interviews with Spanish-speaking applicants at my company by the end of this year.
- Get my list of books read up to 10 on Goodreads, with at least two of those being self-improvement books. I’m currently at 6 books read for the year according to Goodreads, although it’s probably more than that at this point. A lot of the books I’ve read, especially ones on my Kindle, I haven’t listed there. Also some of them I didn’t really read thoroughly, like the recipe books I download sometimes – I’ll just read through those quickly and highlight recipes that sound interesting to me. I actually wish there was a better way to track books read right on the Kindle – if anyone knows of a way to do that please feel free to comment below, or email me directly.
- Keep increasing my chin-up strength – I’ve lost a lot of chin-up strength because I didn’t do them regularly for about six months when I was doing the Les Mills Combat workout from Beachbody.
- Start posting at least once a week on my Work at Home Tips Online website – I started this website earlier this year as a way to try to encourage more sales from my eBooks, but I haven’t been in as consistent about posting on it as I have been on this website. I’d like to start posting on it at least once a week, and one thing I’ve been trying to do lately is look at work at home jobs that are posted on Craigslist and determine if they’re scams or not, based on what I know about work from home scams from my personal experience. I want to try to do at least one of those a week, as well as come up with other ideas for posts for that site, like the previously mentioned post I’m working on on quick and healthy meal ideas for people who work from home.
Another thing I’d like to do, though I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do it by the end of this year, is find ways to get more traffic to Work at Home Tips Online. I get stats reports from Statcounter once a week for both this site and Work at Home Tips Online – stats for this site are much higher. Of course, I have also had this site longer. I’d still like to see more traffic on that site, though. How much? I’m not sure, but here are the stats from both this site and Work at Home Tips Online:
Work at Home Tips Online
My Ebook Journey
The green bar represents page views, the blue bar is unique visits, and the orange bar is returning visits. As you can see, Work at Home Tips Online gets more traffic on certain days, but it’s not always as consistent as the traffic to this website. I’m not sure why that is, maybe it’s because it’s a newer website, maybe it’s because I don’t publish on it as much, but I’m hoping if I can start getting on a regular publishing schedule with Work at Home Tips Online like I am with this website, I’ll start getting more consistent traffic.
Whew, okay this post got a bit longer-winded than I intended – if you’re still reading at this point you’ve done a great job :-). Looking forward to posting another update next week!
